(A G.I. sampling 2 types of ganja and asked which was better might say, with a shrug of the shoulders "Same same." Same dude asked whether he'd like to spend time with a Betty or a Veronica, he might also shrug a bit and say "same-o, same-o," In both cases the meaning is "no preference"," no difference between them noted". Also, asked if he preferred being stationed in Phu Loi or Chu Lai, he might say "same same". In no case would he Wolf Blitzer the damned phrase to "same-old, same-old."
