The cumulative effect of multiple avenues of investigation and calls for accounting on Trump are having, and will continue to have, a powerful effect on his state of mind. If he were a normal person, he'd withdraw a bit and watch his mouth. We all know he just can't do that. so he will continue to keep making things harder on himself.
