(3,767 posts)What they did was every shade of wrong except illegal, so far as I can tell.
There might be consequences (e.g. modification of teaching load, ability to advise grad students, etc.), but this would be for the protection of others as much as admonishment for bigotry. If was their department chair, I'd do whatever I could to make sure women and LGBTQ students are never forced to be in their presence, for example. I would also investigate their grading practices throughout his career to look for what an administrator would euphemistically call "irregularities," which could bring further sanction.
But outright firing them is probably not an option.
That said, Bonevac got his PhD in 1980, so he'd be close to retirement as it is. Not sure about the other one.
