(11,678 posts)He always wants to turn up the thermostat when he gets cold or warm. (It appears that his 'comfort zone' is 5 degrees F since he wants the heat set at 70 and the A/C set at 75, but I digress...)
Basically, I told him that it was very telling that he always expected the whole world to change to suit him rather than just taking a few simple steps to address the situation, which in effect means you are changing to suit the whole world. Now, obviously I am not talking about conforming in any way (shudder), but it is far easier (and cheaper!!!!) to stop running five fans that compete with each other, thus creating a vacuum in that part of the house, while not keeping the storm windows tightly locked in place (the sun hits that side of the house in the afternoon, so its either understand physics or sweat), to open your freaking doors so that the A/C can circulate properly, and to realize that a little desk fan can do wonders for where you are sitting at the moment.
The arrogance of someone who really thinks the world is just some adjustable game setting is astounding and yet it is getting more and more prevalent and dangerous. "My ignorance is just as acceptable as your facts." (Asimov) shows that this was a foreseeable future.
Yet, here we are.
In summary... I second...
F*ck Them, and their denial of reality just for comfort and prestige.
