Watching this seven-minute video will bring back the Trump shock of 2016. We all need to watch it again (and again). [View all]

I don't know about you, but like everyone, I felt like everyone seemed to think that Trump would never win in 2016. I figured he had a snowball's chance in hell. Even Fox didn't think he'd win (it's in the clip). And then come election night and we all get quite a shock from which we still haven't recovered.

Today, I happened to rewatch Michael Moore's "Farenheit 11/9." While the whole movie is pretty good, the opening in which he recalls Election Night 2016 is fantastic and it sure woke up my brain again to what we went through. Nobody thought it would happen. But it did.

If you can, rewatch the whole movie. But if not, at least see these seven minutes. I think we were a little complacent in 2016. We got through in 2020. We don't want 2016 to happen again ... because Trump isn't fooling around this time.

This ought to be replayed for every human being in this country.

Where was the "hubris"? Third party voters, non-voters who were complacent? betsuni Jun 2024 #7
The "hubris" was evident in the national expectation of a Clinton win... Think. Again. Jun 2024 #11

Maybe now isn't the time to try to stir up trivial infighting on the Left.... Think. Again. Jun 2024 #9
Yes, Michael Moore shouldn't stir up infighting with baseless insults against Democrats. betsuni Jun 2024 #10

The OP is about Michael Moore's 2018 documentary and the 2016 election. betsuni Jun 2024 #13
No, the OP is very specifically about our current situation. Think. Again. Jun 2024 #14
My point was we can't be complacent. That's all. ificandream Jun 2024 #17
