206. OK. Prepare to be bored. I'll keep it short.

He had knee surgery earlier that year. Through that he did still keep his stupid promise to visit all 50 state. So he was worn down. He hit is knee coming into the studio, so he was in a lot of pain during the debate. He has a condition where the tv cameras basically showed through his first layers of skin so it would look like he had a 5 o'clock shadow. To fix that, they put a LOT of pancake makeup on him. So any sweating at all was magnified. Plus they changed the color they were going to paint the background and it matched Nixon's suit color while Kennedy had a darker on that popped. All the things went wrong for Nixon for the first televised debate.

But he was a debater. I did and coached college debate. Nixon killed him on the issues. But most people watched it and the visuals pulled through.
