(56,198 posts)they gave the president absolute immunity only for "official acts" with a distinction for core acts and non-core official acts.
so i think they figure if a president goes too far (by which i mean, is a democrat) they can always say that it's not an "official act"
as president, donnie could take money in exchange for naming a 4-star general because hey, he's commander-in-chief and no laws apply to him for official acts, congress can't tell him how to run the military.
on the other hand, if biden were to try something like that, they could say aha, taking bribes is not an official act, lock him up!
but a really corrupt president could just create a special branch of the military to serve as his brownshirts, and then the supreme court wouldn't be able to stop him from anything at all. which is exactly what donnie would do if he doesn't get his way without that.
