So you are a paramedic or police officer, and you have emergency lights and sirens and can pass through intersections against the lights in emergencies. Ok.

Now you are in your private vehicle and are rushing somewhere you "think" is important, and push through an intersection and this time you don't make it and someone dies. Now was that an official act? You started out doing it for very good reasons, then started using excuses and justifying your actions.

Maybe. This actually happens pretty frequently with cops. Both in their patrol cars and private cars. they get so used to speeding and ignoring traffic lights - because they can - they just do, with and without lights or sirens.

It will happen to a potus as well if his lawyers start presenting him/her with options that include ethically challenged options. They will be the most direct, most effective methods. And they will get more extreme over time.
