Whereas we would all love to hear he has had a massive medical incident that has left him with the communicative abilities of a jar of grape jelly, we can‘t discount that some sly Republican handlers are just keeping him holed up somewhere, frustrated because he can‘t go out and get some fresh publicity, but all the time training him for his big triumphant acceptance speech at the Republican convention.

Sure, the speech will be full of lies and the same incoherent nonsense we‘re used to. But if they are delivered in a strong, confident tone, THAT is what the media will report. They, and 99% of Republican voters, will ignore the content as they did with the „debate.“ He could read listings from an extensive Chinese restaurant menu, and the reaction would be no different. All he has to say is „sleepy Joe“ and not even Van Jones will bother to remark that the rest of the segment questioned the virtues of substituting chicken for pork in your moo shu pancakes.

I would MUCH rather hear that Trump is in some secret clinic where the best medical minds are being tasked with trying to revive the grape jelly. We must, however, be prepared for the possibility that while most Republican strategists are evil, not all of them are stupid. We may not like the reason for his absence, and would be well advised to prepare for Mr. Brain-cement to deliver his nonsense with brash confidence that will leave his adoring crowd cheering wildly. It won’t matter to them that they haven’t understood a word he said. Most of them know that Shakespeare is classic literature, and they don’t understand a word of that, either. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
