That conversation usually happens AFTER they start bitching about politics, and they decide they want to go back to the game rather than keep a reasonable conversation going.
Finding the closet liberals (even on the singular topic they care about) in a red state sports bar, does take some work. It's usually worth it for a shared bucket after the fact...
