I was wrong about the Chip50 report not existing. It wasn't to be found where I looked on their site, but it's a new report and appeared in a different spot on their site. My mistake
I don't think I was wrong to point out that PoliticusUSA news source is not to be trusted, ever, even if (allegedly) their bias is to the left. They're clickbaity and full of cookie-spewing ads.
I'm relieved Biden isn't bleeding support after the debate performance. I think it speaks well to our voting base that they're standing by our candidate because the issues are so critical--the strength of our imperfect democracy is on the line in this election.
I'm still not much encouraged by polls that show Biden not losing support when his polling averages are running 3½ points behind Trump. I'll be encouraged when Biden gets out there and starts prosecuting the fuck out of the criminal con artist we're running against. I'll be encouraged by polls when they quit showing must-wins like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, & Michigan with Trump leading. Then I'll quit having nightmares about Trump appointing Thomas and Alito's 40-something replacements next year.
But let my stupidity stand below. I googled poorly. I'm not in a sanguine mood about our politics right now.
========================
Original post below:
I looked at the CHIP50 website and didn't find this analysis. I found one article, written on July 3 before any polling came out, but it's just one academic's assessment of what influence the debate might have had. Here. He was equally critical of both candidates:
There was no reason for Biden to wait 45 minutes to mention Trump is a convicted felon, Panagopoulos says.
Asked if he would accept the outcome of the 2024 election, Trump seemed to dodge, saying that he wouldnt even be here if Biden was a good president.
In the end, I dont think this debate will change much, Panagopoulos says. Neither candidate scored any major points or landed any knock-out punches, and all it did was reinforce both candidates main weaknesses: perceptions that Trump is a liar and that Biden is too old.
That's kind of what the PolticusUSA article concludes, but doesn't have all that data.
I googled a number of variations on "chip50 biden debate crisis bogus media creation" but got no results except for the OP's article (and this very DU thread). Why is no one else covering this?
So I googled PoliticusUSA and I found this caveat on their Wikipedia page:
PoliticusUSA is an American left-wing website that publishes hyperpartisan clickbait. Its content has been described by academic studies and journalistic reports as "unreliable," "misleading," and "fake". It is among the most popular U.S. political websites.
I think we can write off this article as bullshit
