In reply to the discussion: Schumer and Jefferies delay nomination process [View all]angrychair
(12,477 posts)I would counter that is if, in effect, the same in the end.
Two separate things were happening at the same time. Tim Walz, co-chair of the DNC Rules Committee put forth a letter to the rules committee and reached out to the Biden Campaign and with the direct input of Biden, appeared to have settled on a date of 8/2 for the virtual roll call. Walz stated he was not aware of any effort by Jefferies or Schumer to delay the roll call.
There is lies the rub for me. I don't see an issue as to what happened with Walz.
My issue is the Dem leaders of the House and Senate appearing to make an end run around the process that the rules co-chair was not even aware was happening. That makes it look like dirty pool and that is why I find it concerning, especially on the heels on Schiff throwing Biden under the bus.
