Our purpose being the defeat of Trump in November.

On that, we are steadfast.

But the earth is shifting beneath our feet, and there much disagreement on which path is the best one to take.

I survived the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. Some folks thought running outside was safest, others thought sheltering inside was safer (that is what is generally recommended); however, in this case, it depended on what kind of building you were in at the time.

Two hours before the quake hit, I was working at my internship downtown in a 100+ year old brick exterior building. When the quake hit, the back wall of the 3 story building that I worked in peeled off into the parking lot, leaving the building looking like a giant doll’s house. The wall connecting our offices to the neighbouring building collapsed and killed an employee in the coffee shop next door.

My point is, we just don’t know with certainty what the best path is, and there must be a conversation to sort it out. It’s terrifying given the stakes, but it must done and can’t be avoided. Emotions are bound to be raw, and we should keep that in mind as we interact with each other.
