That was the suggestion a few minutes ago on MSNBC. If that's what Republicans want, here is why, I think: They know that Kamala Harris would not get her choice for a new vice president through the House and Senate. I believe that is subject to confirmation by both the House and the Senate. It would be problematic at best for that nominee to get past this House of Representatives. So, a President Kamala Harris without a vice president for the next five months would mean a) Mike Johnson would be a heartbeat away from the presidency, and b) more importantly, there would not be a Democratic vice president overseeing the certification process of the electoral college votes on January 6, 2025. I don't think there is a high probability of Joe Biden resigning the presidency in the next five months, but then, I didn't think it was likely he would bow out of the race, either. But Joe definitely needs to stay in office and serve out his full term. I want Vice President Kamala Harris overseeing that certification process on January 6, 2025. And of course, I also hope and believe that she will at that time also be the President-elect. My two cents worth.
