(12,711 posts)Roy Cooper and Andy Beshear are both popular Dem governors in southern states. Cooper is term-limited, so he's out as of January anyway. Pete Buttigieg has probably been the most effective member of the Cabinet, is super-smart, and would make mincemeat out of Vance. I love Wes Moore, but he's really only been governor for 2 years. Besides, Maryland is reliably blue. Same with Pritzker in Illinois - a reliably blue state. Taking Warnock or Kelly out of the Senate right now would be really tough, since we only have a 1-vote margin. Shapiro and Whitmer are both popular governors of swing states. I don't know much about Gina Raimondo.
Another good VP candidate would be Jay Inslee of Washington. But then it's a West-coast-only ticket. My bet is that it's going to be Cooper, Beshear, or Buttigieg.
