I think Shapiro would be a good fit too, but I think a decision has to be made about whether the Dems want the Midwest or want to make inroads into the South more. Both Shapiro and Whitmer give them the Midwest. I like the idea of an all-female ticket, but if it was purely pragmatic then I think it's a toss up. North Carolina would be an interesting flip - it's trending purple, but it's risky.

For that matter, I think choosing Mark Kelly COULD move AZ into the blue column more completely, and may take NV with it. Mark also brings an astronaut into the White House on the Dem side, which is likely to get the science nerds like me even more fired up (there are a lot more science-nerd-type techies out there than there are Tech Bros, FWIW). It's also an implicit FU to Eloon Musk and his Martian Chronicles, which is always a plus in my book.

It is nice to have a deep bench to choose from.
