He was appearing on MSNBC and he asked permission to tell the story about Biden before he answered whatever horserace type question he was asked. Probably so he wouldn't be interrupted. And he told it beautifully and sincerely.
Basically, it was about the Dem debates in 2019 when Swalwell was on a stage
with several candidate, one being Biden. His daughter was in the hospital and he had considered canceling the debate. Anyway, during the debate Swalwell let loose with a zinger about passing the torch. He was calling out Biden on his age, publicly, but Swalwell did point out that Biden himself had used that same line against someone else earlier in his career.
During the break, Biden approached Swalwell, who thought Biden was going to read him the riot act. And Biden did say "Nice zinger, wise ass." But right after that, he said, "How's your little girl?"
And Swalwell said that exchange was vintage Joe Biden. It showed he could take a punch, had a sense of humor about himself, but most of all, he never lost sight of what was really important.
I loved that story.
