7. Reminds me of something I heard Pat Buchanan say once

He was complaining about the placement of nonconservative women and non-whites on the Supreme Court which he described as Affirmative Action. His justification was that they weren't as qualified as white men because "they didn't have the same opportunities."

But somehow Buchanan thinks conservative women and non-whites are just as qualified as white men. That's because those conservatives defend the preservation of power for those who already hold it, rich white men. It seems what really makes you "unqualified" or a "DEI hire" in the minds of white men like Buchanan is if you support expanding rights unconditionally to all Americans. It's not really about qualification. It's about control.
