From The National Governor's Association https://www.nga.org/former-governors/kentucky/

Until 1992 governors could not succeed themselves, so on the surface it would appear that two term Democratic governors are rare.

For some reason, KY has elected Democratic Governors yet the majority of US Senators have been Republicans. None of his predecessors were like McTurtle.

The last Southern State legislature to be 100% Republican was Kentucky. The House held out until 2014 (I think) At least half of the Congressional representatives were Democrats.
