Ever since I watched a movie about Jim Morrison (Doors), which made me see an artist I had loved as a teenager in a different light, I have avoided studying the background of artists I enjoy. I haven't watched the Elvis movie or the one about Queen for fear they might ruin the art for me. I think studying famous painters would yeild similarly disturbing results. So, thank you for the heads up. I won't spring Coe's songs on the unsuspecting again. But, truly, without much research, it would be difficult to avoid posting songs sung by wife beaters, rapists, child molesters, and racists. (I won't list them, but I stumble on this information about some other artists I have enjoyed).
