42. As a veteran,

you have no idea how infuriating this is to me. I served during peacetime, but I have the utmost respect for those who served and fought during wartime. For someone who had a single hitch in a damned PR office to think he has the right to say *anything* with regards to anyone else's service, it's insane.

AFAIC, THIS is the bottom of the barrel. I may have run into some generals I didn't particularly like (especially those with old-time opinions of women in the military), but I kept them to myself and I always respected the rank and person holding the rank while in uniform. To do anything else is the height of arrogance, IMO.

I hope with all my heart VoteVets starts digging into Vance a lot deeper than they have so far... and then publicize it. Vance should NOT get away with this kind of crap. But I do wonder... there are magas who served in the military. McCaffrey is pretty damned well known. And if this is just the start of the swiftboating that Vance is going to do, what do THEY think of the denigration of their former/current service people?

I would love to see this get as much play as crazy childless cat ladies. We started a movement with that (I'm not childless, but at my age and with my brood, I do fall under the cat lady moniker). We veterans need to ensure we start a movement over Vance's comments, too (and not to mention all the denigration that has come from the original bone spur deferment guy).
