(14,586 posts)or advertise it for months on our cars and lawns. Speaking as an old-timer, traditionally most Americans only expressed political affiliation (if any at all) during the month or so prior to elections, with many just wearing a lapel button and maybe a yard sign and bumper sticker.
Much like the commercialization of Christmas, I think we've fallen for a political industry that makes many millions selling Americans all this shit, including ball caps and things that abuse our Flag. TV and internet saturation with politics for months on end has gotten way out of hand, too. Simply put, this change in our society is clearly a product of the right wing's thirst for power at any cost.
However Funtatlaguy, I do relate to your frustration.
PS: Anyone else here remember seeing cans of Goldwater soda?
