I've been seeing WAY too much of it in this little city in which I live. The "buy anything in any condition" people buy for 20k or less, sell it for $165k, and drive the rest of the neighborhood out of their lifelong homes as the property taxes go sky high. It's "grading on the curve" in the wrong way.
I personally know one of these < 1100 sq ft homes that was bought for less than 20k by a corporate rehabber. The final house looked nice, to be sure... but it's still just an 1100 sq ft home and it sold for $165k... way overpriced for what it actually is in this area. But it sure jacked up the property tax rate for that neighborhood.
