As a kid, we adopted a stray white female - who turned out to be pregnant (and, thankfully, quite healthy).
We were so happy with them all, she and the 4 kittens in all as I recall; I'd often take one to the library on my bike.
Until a malicious neighbor turned us in.
We were struggling, and the apartment was too good a deal - so we had to give them up. This was 40 years ago; I pray they found a good home - hopefully together.
I know they're all together in heaven.
