...aviation program, and seems pretty happy with it. He's just starting his sophomore year. They have a variety of specialties/tracks. The only disadvantage is that his flight hours sometimes have to be re-scheduled because of the often crappy weather in lovely North Dakota. I expect the same might well be true in Montana.
You have spoken so eloquently about your son, and what a fine young man you think he is, that it's easy to remember that whenever I see a post from you, regardless of the topic.
3 hours away sounds much better than all the way in Colorado. And kudos to Owen for realizing he was not comfortable with things, and not trying to be macho and tough it out.
My husband is an Air Force Academy grad, and flew for the AF for 20+ years, then United Airlines for 15 until mandatory retirement age of 60, then 2 years for Net Jets, so I've been around pilots for a long time. When Owen starts seriously dating, tell him he needs to look for a partner who is not a clinging vine, as pilots are often away from home. If you are involved with one, you need to be OK being on your own a lot. I was OK with it.
