10. You're not being fair in defending Baker. Baker failed to call it a TAX ON AMERICANS, and made shit up.

As O'Donnell correctly pointed out, Trump never even articulated a policy, let alone a "disputable policy assumption." Trump never even said he would use the "proceeds," i.e. tariff taxes collected from consumers, "to pay for childcare." BAKER said that. Baker articulated Trump’s policy for him, where Trump was unable to do so in his word salad nonsense. THAT is sanewashing.

And I think Baker was wrong in thinking that was what Trump meant to say. I honestly don't think Trump meant that our government would pay for childcare. Like Trump's bloviating about how drilling for more oil will somehow magically bring food costs down to pre-pandemic levels, Trump has no actual policy he intends to implement.

What Trump actually said, to the extent he said anything discernable, is that foreign governments will pay for our childcare, like he said Mexico will pay for the wall. That is insane, of course, and Baker failed to tell his readers the true level of Trump’s derangement.

Baker deserved every bit of whoopass he got from O'Donnell, and then some.
