I remember watching that fight on an afternoon ABC Wide World of Sports. Karl was the first southpaw to challenge for the heavyweight title, and it took The Champ a few rounds to get his timing. Dundee was scolding him in between rounds for circling to his left. But Ali had such an amazing ability to judge distance that he stopped Karl. (I was friends with Karl on FB for years.)
Had there been a referee last night, he/she would have surely stopped the fight when the old man was sputtering about dining on cats and dogs.
