In reply to the discussion: West Virginia has introduced a resolution where they will not accept or recognize the 2024 Presidential election [View all]jmowreader
(53,322 posts)47. The last Democrat to win West Virginia was Bill Clinton
The Republicans could run a Jeffery Epstein-Al Capone ticket and win West Virginia in 2024 even if the Democratic ticket was Jesus Christ and the owner of the biggest coal mine in West Virginia. To claim they're not going to approve the vote if the Democratic ticket wins is silly because the Democratic ticket won't win there anyway.

OP
Think about how broadly they can construe the part about him being subject to legal actions...

Not to worry - this resolution only applies to "the Democrat candidate for President".

Yes, and it would probably stand up to judicial appeal - letter of the law vs. spirit of the law.

If this is just a resolution that has been introduced, that means nothing has happened YET.

Not even close to being legal West Virginia. You'll have to behave as if you agree.

Let them withhold their 4 EVs in protest then. Makes it slightly easier for us to reach of majority of 268 out of 534.

Well, that will be an interesting court case if they try to use it. Almost sounds like succession to me.

Well, I see all that lead and mercury in their drinking water is having an effect.
