5. More & more, it seems like our species is a failed experiment

When I was about 10 years old, watching the evening news, I came to the conclusion that until we repeal the excuse of 'human nature' for all the ills we accept, we will go extinct. At 71, I am even more convinced. Odd thing about me is, I am basically an optimist. But I can see, learn, connect the dots, and all the optimism I have cannot deny what is there to be easily seen.

Perhaps we are species evolving, some moving on toward a better sort of human. But if we don't do it fast, if the evolved don't soundly outnumber and overwhelm those fighting becoming a better species, and overcoming our worst inclinations in favor of the greater good, it's game over.
