26. He wears a costume

When he was younger, he dressed somewhat tastefully, with dark ties and his coat buttoned.

Since he has been in the politcal area he has worn the costume of a carnival barker, usually a rumpled suit, unbuttoned jacket, and a red tie that is much too long. Apparently he thinks his fans like this get up. He is playing a role.

A line in a Faulkner novel said "What kind of man wears a red tie?" to describe a stranger in town. I did some research and, for that period in history, a red tie was a signal you were gay. I doubt Trump knows that.
