take a huge risk and give my own two cents. It's the same two cents I've tried to bring up for the past few months.
Almost all resources and messages revolved around vilifying Trump. We spent our time making claims of Nazi's, fascists, dictators, and internment camps. It has actually been embarrassing for me because being a Democrat, I get lumped into this crap. And unlike some, I am willing to say it out loud, and that is scant effort was put into policy development and promoting that as the primary message to voters. It was there, but it was hidden behind the dark and massive shadow of the negative crap. I think we set a record for most consecutive years beating a clearly dead horse. Those comments and claims resonated only with people who already hated that shithead and were never in a million years ever going to vote for him anyway.
This did not motivate independent and swing voters at all. It repelled them in large enough numbers to produce the result we got.
And their voters? We CANNOT badmouth their voters in any forum. Just look what he was able to do with the garbage comment. Yes, yes I know, but it doesn't matter what was actually said or meant, it was a perfect crowbar made for the job, and they used it to their full advantage. The hyperbole has to stop if we want to regain the confidence of voters. There were so many instances of this, most especially in the media, that it erodes cooperation in very consequential ways. We should NEVER make it personal, that is a losing strategy every single time. For hell, I live in one of the most red-washed counties in the country, and these are good people with some questionable ideals, nothing more. Sure, there are a few jackasses, but they are few. I may disagree with them, but theya re just normal people trying to do what THEY think is right. I can't go around calling them stupid rubes, I have to live with these people, and in a national election, it's the exact same conditions. You cannot make this shit personal or insulting.
We can't point straight at Harris or Biden or anyone in particular because be in in social media, major media outlets, or even forums like this place, the mood emanating from our side was of hyperbole and bile, even hatred. Someone needs to get this into the minds of the media who control these talking heads, because they injured us greatly throughout these previous months with this BS.
