When you use a touchscreen to type?

Did you blame it on the machine, and insist it changed what you typed? Or was it more likely far fingers or a poorly calibrated touchscreen.

It is the same technology. Software has to take where your finger hits and connect it to what to display in the screen. It isn't changing your vote. It is displaying what the algorithm says you touched. Calibration is never perfect. I had to make several "it" to "or" or "ot" corrections in this post, because the calibration on my phone requires a slightly left of center touch (or I consistently touch right of center).

That is the point of the vote verification screens - to show you how the algorithm interpreted your touch, so you can correct your ballot before casting it, in the event a miscalibration or fat fingers resulted in marking a vote that wasn't what you intended. It isn't changing your vote, it is simply not interpreting your touch in the same way you intended it.
