(1,868 posts)83. I love AOC and think she is amazing... and I also think
the nominee in 2028 is going to wind up being a white moderate male because voters are going to learn from the racism and sexism of general election voters in 2016 and 2024 and try to nominate someone who has a shot at winning the general. It breaks me heart to know this, thinking about the amazing leadership and brilliant minds we have in people like Elizabeth Warren, Stacey Abrams, AOC, Gretchen Witmer, Amy Klobuchar... but if we could not get Kamala Harris or Hillary Clinton elected, despite how amazingly qualified they were, and running against a candidate who was so completely unqualified, it says something frankly terrible about this country that is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Yeah. If we think Kamala Harris motivated RWers & MAGATs like no one else, just wait until AOC is on the ballot.

I like her too but IIRC a Rep. elected the WH. She might be ready after a couple of Senate terms.

Well reality is what it is, the question is do we pick the person most likely to get elected or the one we like the most

In safe Dem areas we can, but in national contests we have to appeal to middle of the road voters,

I would love to AOC at the top of the ticket, but for just a minute can we stop talking about 2028?

The Party owners will never allow it. She's way too liberal for them. No talking about income inequality.

No! Absolutely not. -- She's fine where she is, in a comfortably easy-to-win blue district.

No, first of all, I doubt a woman is likely to be elected in my lifetime and secondly,

Way, way, way, way too early. Let's get through the nightmare first, before we can dream again. NT

She won't kiss repug ass and she won't worry about hurting their feelings. We can't have that.

This is not a reality based suggestion. I guess we need to float this kind of stuff to feel hopeful?
