The Cons shamelessly represent them with a new veneer of "populism". They are the de-facto Oligarch party.
The Democrats need them to supply money for campaigns. After decades of wealth concentration since the 60's they rely on them to supply the goods and services that constitute the modern economy. They are in essence "too big to fail." This became a core tenant of Obama's shameful acquiescence to the banking and financial community after the mini collapse of 2008. The joke is that Biden actually started to try to reverse this legacy and you just saw the result...a rapist elected to the presidency.
While there are still many small businesses in this country, they can't exist without the supply chains that the Oligarchs now control.
They control most of the information landscape.
They control the digital landscape.
They control agriculture.
They control energy.
We are all in a delusional state if we think this is suddenly going to revert to 1900's America. It's not.
The only way this changes is that it wealth concentration either becomes suddenly unprofitable or illegal.
I for one am not holding my breath...
