But I have said since Smith's first month on the job that he was making a huge tactical blunder by trying to develop his own personal magnum opus with these cases. Letting it go to the 11th Circuit was a huge blunder, and nobody should have been surprised that the "random" selection was Cannon.

There were sufficient charges that could and should have been brought in the DC Circuit. Maybe the SCOTUS would have set Trump free, but at least force them to do that in public.
