(313 posts)I keep struggling with it. I'm glad I'm retired, because I don't think I could get up and go to work every day under Dictator Trump. I couldn't work as a teacher, I know that, because I'd be attacking Trump and MAGA every damn minute.
Sometimes I think of Anne Frank and John McCain and the untold numbers who have faced far worse than even Trump and managed to keep their sanity and even to see the good in the midst of the cruelty and the evil.
Joy has been sucked out of everything. All that I believed in, like you, has been crushed. I've always been a fan of quotes, and the one Abraham Lincoln kept on his desk in the Oval Office is one I often share with those going through tough times: "And this, too, shall pass." That's the best I can come up with. But if that helped Lincoln through his many personal travails and the angst of the first Civil War, it should be good enough even now. At least, I hope so.
