headquartered in Oklahoma City. Green says the company was founded to express their "evangelical Protestant beliefs."

The company is most prominently known for fighting the requirements in the Affordable Care Act to provide contraception and birth control in company-provided health care plans. Hobby Lobby took the issue all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in 2014 that the company, and others like it (i.e. "closely held corporations" ) could refuse to cover birth control in company health plans, based on the owner or owners' religious preferences.

Hobby Lobby has also been criticized for refusal in the past, to carry "Jewish" items, like Hanukkah decorations. The company was also accused of receiving smuggled archeological artifacts from the Middle East, for display in the "Museum of the Bible", which Green and the company also sponsor.

According to Forbes Magazine, Green is also part of network of billionaires who gave Donald Trump $160-million in 2024 for "election integrity."
