In reply to the discussion: Is this a Christian schism? [View all]Jilly_in_VA
(14,257 posts)29. You completely missed the historic "peace churches"
Quakers, Mennonites, and Church of the Brethren. I'm pretty familiar with all of them, since Mennonites of all varieties and CoB abound here, and I have off and on attended Quaker meetings and my longtime best friend was Quaker. I also used to stand vigil for peace with the women of the Church of the Brethren in Hagerstown, MD, when I was a travel nurse there. Although I'm not a member of any of those bodies, I've had ancestors who were, and I have a deep respect for them and for their traditions.
it is possible that many Christians will take up something resembling the Underground Railroad in the near future, for immigrants and for political dissidents. We won't have to be pacifists, either, although many will be.
