(38,206 posts)What is infuriating, though, is that the Phelps are so filled with hate and so full of themselves that they would love to be martyrs for their idiotic hatred. They really are THAT fucking deranged.
One guy went to do a documentary about them and go swept up in it and is now a diehard believer of their hatred. His daughter was 18 years old and merely wanted a boyfriend. They kicked her out, removed all her pictures from the walls, and disowned her. She now sees them as a cult and wants to see her parents again, but knows they are in a cult and that they likely will never acknowledge her even existing again. The father says she is going to hell now and that is a good thing and all in God's plan, or something to that effect.* That is how fucked up they are.
I know some types like that where I live. It is beyond infuriating to have to cope with people like that. Is it any wonder I stay home most of the time?
*Where I saw that was in a documentary called The Most Hated Family In America In Crisis. There are actually 2 documentaries. This is the second one. The first one doesn't have the In Crisis part behind the title. But, the one where they talk about that is in the one with In Crisis at the end of the title. It is on Youtube in 4 parts. So, if you search for Most Hated Family in America 1/4 or something to that effect, you can find it fairly easily. Watching it easily is a whole 'nother matter. I couldn't make it past the 2nd clip. Actually, I couldn't make it even halfway through the second clip. It is too infuriating to watch and listen to, but that is where you can hear** the father talking about how he thinks his daughter is going to hell and is saying it is a good thing and that he is happy about it. They make me so damn sick to my stomach.
**if you can stand to listen to it that long. It took all I had to get that far. They are so proud of themselves. They sure missed the part of the Bible about pride. Matthew 7:1 went straight over their heads too, apparently.
