But it may be that they need to "hit rock bottom" and understand that they could indeed go out of business in order for them to wake-up and return to being a responsible fact-based news organization.

Yes, selling to a group that its more committed to an independent press is worth hoping for. Maybe a lack of subscribers will lower the overall value of the WP and bring the price down to something that's affordable.

Someone else here also mentioned the Guardian. I'll check them out as well. Thanks.
