(79,250 posts)Now just a gal-darned minute! When I was younger -- so much younger than today -- the youth were known for adopting each and every single value and delusion of their elders. And we were mighty glad to do so. When the young, brash heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali said, "I don't have to be who you want me to be," we knew he was wrong. Darn him. Or when that guy John Lennon and his group "The Bay City Rollers" sang, "All You Need is Love," we debated burning records, but burned weed instead, in non-violent protest. We copied our parents music, hair styles, and dress. We loved when President Nixon conducted the baptisms of Abbie Hoffman, Grace Slick, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin in Pat Boone's swimming pool. I note that more people watched that than the moon landing.
These fucking kids could learn a lot from our experiences.
