Lots of privileged people feel unfulfilled, unhappy, and depressed and want others to feel the same way. It wasn't enough to own slaves and mistreat them. It was even more important to make sure they didn't laugh and sing through their misery. Some will never learn that money and having it all is not the most important thing to billions of other people. The things that old folks used to say money could not buy still cannot be bought. And that's the rub.
