In reply to the discussion: Trump's approval is still strong [View all]SunSeeker
(58,225 posts)It's only been 3 weeks. Most Americans are just going about their lives and have no idea what Elon did at Treasury. It has not affected them...yet. The economy has not faltered...yet. Trump has not invaded Greenland...yet. Medicare and Social Security have not been cut...yet.
Considering that none of the effects of Trumps early moves have really hit the average voter, 48% approval for a newly elected or re-elected president is not "strong." Anything below 50% should not be described as strong.
Unfortunately, in this CBS poll, Trump does hit 53% approval. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/trump-approval-opinion-poll-2025-2-9/ But even in that poll, the majority are not happy with a key issue:
"But one key issue looms: Most Americans say the administration isn't focused enough on lowering prices. Inflation was a key reason Mr. Trump won the election. "
So as prices keep going up, and as things starts collapsing so that these low info voters start actually feeling it, he will lose support.
