(2,937 posts)We live in a small, rural southern town. Up until about a year ago or so, we had only one internet connection choicethe local ISP. Their servers were full and people moving here were dismayed to discover they had no internet options. The lines were not maintained. Our speed averaged 1.24 mbps. Streaming was iffy. Photos emailed from friends loaded like back in dial-up days.
And then Starlink became available. We got it (he was still just your average billionaire moron at the time). Our speed now varies from about 60 mbps to in the 90s. It is highly reliable.
Heres how I see our dumping it as a way to separate ourselves from Musk:
1. We would no longer be paying a little over $100 a month to someone with many hundreds of billions of dollars. Wow, that would show him a thing or two; and
2. We would have an internet speed of 1.24 mbps again and all the limitations that brings.
I think maybe I wont cut off my nose to spite my face.
