that isn't really her call to make.
Lots of parents are so invested in their kids not having anything "wrong" with them that they will go way out of their way to deny any evidence of a disability including everything the person themself tells them.
The only person who gets to make that call is the person themself, working with trained professionals.
I wonder how many people here on the basis of no evidence whatsoever deciding that Elon must be lying about being autistic would think it was appropriate to argue that someone they didn't know and only saw snippets of on TV and who identified as gay couldn't possibly actually be gay on the basis that they didn't act gay enough or were pretending to be gay just for sympathy or their Mom didn't think they were gay so they must not be.
Actually nevermind, I suspect the answer to that would be even more depressing than this thread has been.
