(2,561 posts)I know a few who lived and worked in Texas,
And RETIRED to MEXICO
One was principal at Middle school, AND retired with
a DAMN GOOD PENSION, Her husband was also a Coach/Teacher that retired
with in a year or two of each other
So they had TWO really good pensions,
I would guess about $80,000 a year PENSION
SO a good guess is about $150,000 to $170,000 combined
They sold their house in north Texas,
AND THEN GOT THE HELL OUT OF TEXAS !!
AND MOVED TO MEXICO !!
They bought a house in Mexico, about 2 hours north of Mexico City,
Utility costs are minimal compared to Texas,
About 70% less utilities expenses now
Great savings to live in Mexico.
About 40% to 50% cheaper
But they bought a house in Mexico BEFORE the pandemic hit
Pool, hillside views, a maid is inexpensive,
And if they want to COSTCO and HEB are within an hours drive
A few things are more expensive,,, like cell phones, especially if you want an APPLE
Less stress
Less traffic
People are friendly
Crime is far lower than compared to North Texas
And No REPUBLICAN assholes.
