He was probably not actually even wealthy, he just acted it, and everyone believed it......That is, until he started grifting in 2016, and from then on. He now has found he is in a position to corruptly amass an untold fortune from his second occupation of the White House......

There is an old adage: "If you can't Dazzle them with Brilliance, Baffle them with Bullshit"......
