I don't own a gun but I know many, many perfectly sane people here in Alaska who do -- either for hunting or protection from predators. Many people here live hundreds of miles from the nearest supermarket (nearest road, for that matter) and must hunt (and fish) to live.

I have no problem with registration, background checks and all the rest, but simply purchasing a gun doesn't make one crazy.
