45. Back in the HWBush regime

He went into the head of the IRS and told him he wanted him to hire 2000 new auditors. The head of the IRS was elated.
Then, HW told him they all were to target the 15 to 25K a year earners, because THAT was where the fraud was taking place........
The head of the IRS explained to him that that income group usually had to spend all their money on living expenses, and even if they committed fraud it would be such a trivial amount it wouldn't account to much money. He also explained to HW that they had proof that the majority of tax fraud was committed by the 200K and higher income a year earners. And that the amount collected off of their fraud was considerably more significant. HW told him that if he used the auditors to go after the 200+ crowd, the deal was off.
So.....the additional auditors never happened........
