The other poster didn't say the words you're putting in their mouth. They didn't say anything about giving up everything we believe in or not standing up for democracy. The other person is arguing that our current approach of writing off the red states isn't working. That it takes Republicans nominating a guy who didn't think going after underage girls to win in Alabama is really bad for us as a party given the reality of the Senate. It makes it harder to win the house too. Yes we've won the presidential popular vote 7 out of the last 9 times, but we lost the president 2 more time.

Recent polling suggests the party isn't viewed positively. That's a problem. For whatever reason Democrats aren't nearly as good at getting our voters to turn out on hate/anger. Doubling down on what hasn't been working nearly as well as we'd like, doesn't seem like the best approach.
